Kjerkol Seeks Re-Election to Storting

Published: 2024-08-01

Ingvild Kjerkol, a prominent member of Norway's Labour Party, has announced her intention to seek re-election to the Storting for a fourth term.

After a period of reflection following her resignation as Minister of Health and Care due to a plagiarism scandal, Kjerkol expressed her motivation to continue serving, stating that Norway needs a strong Labour Party.

She emphasized her commitment to addressing the challenges faced by Trøndelag and her belief that she has much left to accomplish.

Kjerkol previously topped the Labour Party's list in Nord-Trøndelag in 2021, but recent polls suggest the party may lose one of its two seats in the region.

The Labour Party's nomination committee will begin working on candidate lists in early September, ahead of the nomination meeting in November.
