In a surprising turn of events, Ingvild Kjerkol, the former health minister and current leader of the Energy and Environment Committee in the Norwegian Parliament, has been excluded from the top list for the upcoming parliamentary elections by several major local branches of the Labour Party in Nord-Trøndelag.
Despite her leadership role in Trøndelag Ap, local branches in Steinkjer, Namsos, Levanger, and Verdal have opted for other candidates, citing a need for renewal within the party.
However, Stjørdal Ap remains supportive of Kjerkol, advocating for her as their top candidate.
The nomination process is still ongoing, and while Kjerkol has expressed her desire to continue in Parliament, the final decision rests with the party members.
This development highlights the internal debates within the Labour Party about balancing experience with the demand for new energy and perspectives.
