Kamzy Gunaratnam Wins Oslo Ap Nomination

Published: 2024-11-26

In a closely contested nomination meeting, Kamzy Gunaratnam emerged victorious over Hadia Tajik for the second spot on Oslo Arbeiderparti's list for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Despite the nomination committee's initial preference for Tajik, Gunaratnam secured the position with 124 votes against Tajik's 108. The meeting, held in a packed Samfunnssal, was marked by intense debates and a high number of speakers.

Gunaratnam, a former deputy mayor of Oslo, expressed her commitment to representing Oslo and its residents in the Storting.

The decision reflects a shift in support within the party, highlighting Gunaratnam's strong local ties and appeal.

Meanwhile, the nomination for the fourth spot remains contentious, with a split between candidates Agnes Viljugrein and Trine Lise Sundnes.
