In a shocking case from Frosta, Norway, former municipal doctor Arne Bye has been charged with 88 counts of rape.

The charges stem from allegations that Bye secretly filmed patients during gynecological exams over several years.

Police investigations, initiated in August 2022, uncovered over 6,000 hours of video footage, revealing sensitive and detailed recordings of 159 women.

Bye, who has consistently denied the charges, claims the recordings were for evidence to prove his innocence.

Despite his assertions, he was stripped of his medical license in 2023. The case, which has deeply affected the small community of Frosta, is set to go to trial on November 5, with proceedings expected to last 16 weeks.

The trial will address the serious allegations of abuse of power and sexual misconduct.
