A significant fire broke out in a commercial building in Fredrikstad, leading to the evacuation of 27 residents.

The fire, which started in the loading area of a Europris store, was reported around 18:30. Witnesses described hearing explosions and seeing open flames.

Firefighters quickly gained control, extinguishing the flames by 19:10, though smoke and heat persisted.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the apartments above the store were filled with smoke.

Residents were allowed to return home by 21:00, as authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
