The ferry service between Melbu and Fiskebøl has been suspended due to multiple challenges, including adverse weather conditions and logistical issues with the reserve ferry.
Initially, the service was halted because the reserve ferry, MF "Hamarøy," is too large for the Fiskebøl dock, being nearly five meters longer and two meters wider than the usual ferry.
This has caused significant operational difficulties, as the dock at Fiskebøl is not equipped to handle such a large vessel.
Additionally, strong winds and high waves have further complicated the situation, leading to the suspension of the service.
Efforts are underway to modify the dock to accommodate the larger ferry, with updates expected by Monday morning.
Meanwhile, the ferry remains docked at Melbu, awaiting resolution of these issues.
