The Norwegian government has decided to reopen the bus lanes on the E18 highway for electric vehicles during weekends, starting from September 7, 2024. This decision comes after significant congestion issues arose following the exclusion of electric cars from these lanes in May.

The move aims to alleviate weekend traffic between Asker and Oslo, although weekday congestion remains a pressing issue.

Local officials and residents have expressed concerns that the weekend-only access does not address the daily traffic chaos.

The reopening is part of a broader effort to manage traffic while Ring 1 in Oslo is closed for construction, a project expected to last three years.
