Doctor's Negligence Raises Patient Safety Concerns

Published: 2024-07-30

A temporary doctor at the University Hospital of North Norway (UNN) has been reported to the health authorities after it was discovered that he spent an unreasonably short time reviewing X-ray results.

The doctor allegedly overlooked critical findings, including cases of pancreatic cancer, during his brief assessments, which lasted only seconds.

This negligence has led to serious consequences for several patients, with 12 significant errors identified among 560 examinations conducted between December 2021 and August 2023. Following these revelations, the doctor’s medical license has been suspended, and the case has been referred to the Norwegian Health Authority for further investigation.

The hospital has expressed deep concern over the potential impact on patient care and safety.
