Climate activists from the group "Folk mot fossilmakten" staged a protest at Oslo Airport on Wednesday morning, aiming to disrupt flight operations.
They called for the Norwegian government to sign a legally binding agreement to halt the extraction and burning of fossil fuels by 2030. The activists managed to cut through a fence to enter the airport but were quickly removed by police, who were alerted by the activists themselves.
One of the protesters, Vebjørn Bjelland Berg, emphasized the urgency of the climate crisis, stating that the world is already experiencing a 1.6°C rise in temperature.
Another activist, Anders Kristiansen, echoed these sentiments, arguing that Norway's actions contribute to a global climate emergency that threatens lives and ecosystems.
The protest is part of a broader international movement advocating for a non-proliferation treaty on fossil fuels.
